We normally associate endure bikes with the classic sound of a two-stroke engine, but how about one that’s nearly silent?
Yamaha showed off its PED2 “electric mountain trail” bike at the Tokyo motor show and it also released a promo video highlighting its quietness.
Its power train has not been detailed, but it’s said to offer performance comparable to that of a 50 - 125cc model. This holds true for the PES2 as well, the electric street bike Yamaha also revealed at the Japanese venue.
The latter is unique as it has two motors, each driving one wheel, so therefore it’s two-wheel drive.
What’s even cooler is the CGI-enhanced helmet visor that Yamaha developed with Sony. It offers the rider data probably via an internet / GPS connection as well as two cameras mounted on the PES2 (one facing forward, the other facing the rear).
Both models could be put into production in 2016, but the manufacturer has not stated any clear intentions towards that end (yet).
